Why My Family And I Love HelloFresh
This post is a sponsored partnership between Big Blonde Hair.com and HelloFresh in which I was gifted product, although all opinions and picks are my own.
While I may cover Bravo fashion on BigBlondeHair.com, I’m not someone who would ever be mistaken for a Top Chef. Just ask my husband who does 99.999% of the cooking. That’s why when I was approached to try HelloFresh my husband I was quick to say yes.
I’ve wanted to try their service for a long time after hearing so much about it. I thought it would be a fun way for me to step it up for the new year. Plus, we’re always looking for new meals to try, and as 2 entrepreneurs who work more than 9-5 while parenting two children, it’s hard finding time to figure out new recipes and then shop for the ingredients.
With HelloFresh, you can customize your plan and choose to have 2-4 recipes a week delivered for 2-4 people depending on what you’re looking for. The super fresh ingredients (TONS of veggies) are all sent along with step by step instructions with photos on how to make each meal. It’s kind of awesome because you use everything you’re sent since it’s all pre-measured. Sometimes we waste produce when trying to make recipes with grocery store ingredients, which I always feel bad about. They’re also super conscious about recycling their packaging.
Most meals are estimated to take 20-40 minutes total to prep and cook. Full disclosure, as a bit of a novice, I have to say that the cook time was an underestimate for me. I made a double serving which took longer for obvious reasons, but I can see myself becoming faster at it the more I do it–practice makes perfect! I’d say this isn’t for people who have zero kitchen experience, you needing to know your way around a bit, like checking when meat is done or how much salt is too much. But for the quality of meal that results, all in all the instructions are simple to follow and time goes by quickly when you’re drinking wine and listening to music in the kitchen.
We tried the Bulgogi Pork Tenderloin, Veggie Chile Rellenos and Sunny Side Up Burgers, and were impressed by them all. The Veggie Chile Rellenos were my favorite and my husband loved the Beef Bulgogi—he said it tasted “restaurant quality,” which I assure you isn’t anything that’s ever been uttered about my cooking. That wasn’t something my kids wanted, so I made it for my parents over the holidays and it was a great meal for entertaining. HelloFresh also options to choose from that are “Calorie Smart,” which I’d also like to try in the future, it being conducive to those of us who will be counting calories in the new year.
I can see myself doing this probably 2-3 times per week based on my schedule. Once during the week, once on Friday or Saturday and then for a Sunday dinner. It’s a great way to get everyone to sit down together for a good meal, whether you’re catching up with friends or family.
HelloFresh is a great way to kickstart your #lifegoals for 2020, whether you’re looking to create a reason to connect more with the people in your life, wanting to be the next Top Chef, or both.
