Bringing on the bling, Monique Samuels’ purple stone necklace was the large version of a necklace and bracelet that almost ever girl in my high school got as a sweet 16 gift. Yea. I know. But at least hers was the big version with diamonds around it. If you can’t recognize this designer off-hand, get to know him. He has been around for (ugh) decades, and aint going anywhere.

But I actually really like this style more than the old school stuff. It’s the “adult” version of what us spoiled gals used to have. Just to be clear: I did NOT get one of these for my sweet 16. But I definitely had the best party. On my birthday, I just wanted to go with my bestie and family to my favorite restaurant at the time (Maggiano’s, before it became a chain). So around 5 p.m. my parents said it was time to leave, and I walk outside to a giant stretch limo! I was so excited, but that wasn’t it… I opened the door thinking the limo would be empty but it was full of like 20 of my friends. We went to Maggiano’s, got goodie bags, had a great time and an awesome memory. Minus the necklace or bracelet. I’ll spare you the story about how I am the only person to never have gotten an American Girl doll…
