Why I love this look: A maxi dress to a BBQ is a no fail, but after my 3rd day of Memorial Day Festivities I felt like I related well to my “Haute Mess” shirt in more ways than one. I think wearing cutoffs and a graphic tee, along with some edgy jewelry, is a great way to stand out at a BBQ. And since I’m in my 30’s I avoid making it look like I’m trying to be in my 20’s by wearing my fave denim cutoffs, that I feel have an appropriate inseam relative to some I see.
Where I wore it: To a friends Memorial Day BBQ. Nothing beats good food, being outdoors and seeing good friends, especially after an extremely long winter in Chicago.
Inspiration: I was inspired by my Lauren Loves x T+J Designs collaboration (more info here) and of course, my sunnies were a purchase inspired by the Kardshians. I love to dress up, but as you can see, I have a total addiction to distressed denim and I love a clever graphic tee that applies to my current status. Like I said, after 3 days of being festive, the Haute Mess tee will totally have had a #CurrentMood hashtag attached to it on Insta. And I especially love this one because of it’s price—I refuse to drop the $100+ on the price of graphic tee’s some companies are pushing, no matter how much I’m feeling the saying it.
