Ever sit at home, watching your fave Real Housewives on TV, drooling over how hot they are, wishing you could look like them? Savor this helpless feeling, because your pity party is over when the clock strikes 12:01am this Sunday morning. I’m declaring 2012 the year of fab. I’m telling you people, it just takes a LITTLE effort to look good and be more confident. So here is my guide to a few small things to add into your daily repetoir to make you a little less homely and a little more Housewife. Think it’s shallow and superficial? It is – So what. Think you can’t do it? You’re wrong. If you like feeling good about the way you look and are slightly to moderately to totally insecure like the rest of us, this one’s for you. *Plus, we all know it’s much easier to change what’s on the outside than the inside. *See you in hell.
1. Buy New Eye Makeup. And take 5 minutes to use it.
I’m no cosmetologist, but for me, feeling good is as simple as throwing on some makeup before I go out the door. Call me shallow, call me superficial, but you’ll never call me unprepared when I run into an Ex-BF or Ex-BFF at the grocery store. Think you don’t have time to get glam? Throw your 2 screaming kids in the Pack and Play and throw on a cartoon for FIVE minutes. Give them a box of Q Tips to play with on your bathroom floor. Let them play with your iPhone. It doesn’t make you a bad parent. No rugrats? NO EXCUSE. Press Snooze ONE less time.
Think you don’t know the first thing about applying makeup? Visit a makeup counter and take a lesson. Find a how to video on You Tube. Or just do the basics – Sweep a light color eye shadow over your lid, put a darker color in the crease, apply eyeliner (yes it’s my favorite thing on earth and I line my bottom inner lid and top lid) and mascara (coat those babies a few times), throw on some lip gloss and walk out the door. For crying out loud, email me and I’ll instruct you. Does my makeup always look the best? Not always. Do I look like I just rolled out of bed? Only in the comfort of my own home.
Not sure where to start? Here are a few faves currently taking residence in my makeup bag:
Easy, sexy shades for all skin tones to use. Layer them up, or sweep on a neutral of you’re still not sure what you’re doing. Mine even came with a free base to make the shadow last longer.
A fun way to spice up your normal liner. The brush makes the creme shadow easy to apply.
Great for big, sexy lashes at a low price. Rimmel Full Body Sexy Curves Mascara is my other go to when I want mascara on the cheap (under $7).
Special occasion (aka a Saturday night)? Add fake eyelashes into your routine. Can’t apply them yourself? Suck it up – Yes you can! And buy a backup just in case.

Sometimes I wait way too long between eyebrow waxing appointments, and these babies have saved me on countless occasions. Invest, they’re worth it.
