I watched an interesting clip on Bravo’s website with Dirty John’s costume designer Susie Desanto talking about the whole mindset behind Debra Newell’s wardrobe this season. I love getting this insight because many people don’t realize how much planning and thought goes behind a show’s wardrobe because if it’s done right it is a big part of character development. There’s a whole psychology and philosophy behind it, which is completely evident with Debra Newell’s dog print pajamas after everything goes down with Terra. It clearly shows the guilt she has and the feeling she’s having about her dog-loving daughter. So for anyone who thinks fashion is shallow, that’s not always the case, especially in the life of a costume designer.
