Amanda Batula’s white v neck sweater with black lining was a great cover up on those summer days that start hot and end cool. One of the weirdest thing about a lot of native Israelis is that we hate air conditioning because back when we grew up there, central air was rare so basically to cool off in the constant desert heat you’d sit under an air conditioner which just blew freezing air on your sweaty body. So, at least my family, doesn’t do will under fans or in a simple breeze.

They say crazy people dress for the wrong season. I’ve been called crazy often because I’ll wear a sweatshirt in 70 degrees. It’s less about being cold and more about being offended by a breeze. One of the first times that my husband had dinner with my whole family, he still laughs at the fact that between all of us we asked the poor waiter to turn on and off the fireplace no less than 12 times. Moral of the story: wear layers.
